The Doctor Is In

My nose is driving me crazy tonight.  Irritation, sneezing, running, all very unpleasant.  Am I developing allergies?

Just sliced open my finger opening a box.  Fun times.

Just when I thought the cold was on its way out, it lays me low again today.  I hope it doesn’t do that tomorrow, I’ve got too much to do.

In other news, I am coming down with a cold.

So I had the last of my homemade potato salad yesterday, and I think it was past its expiration date, because now my stomach is beating me up.  I hope it’s just a small thing and not salmonella, because if it’s salmonella my weekend is shot.

If you like reading about parasites, there was a semi-nice article on neurocysticercosis (tapeworms in brain) that Discover Magazine published online ~4 days ago. Might be old news to you, though.

It’s not something I’m keeping constant tabs on, but when I hear about something interesting I look into it.  This sounds like something that I would find particularly intriguing - parasites as they pertain to human health is one area where I’m especially attracted.

(It probably also helps that my late grandfather was a parasitologist and had a few books around his house that I got to read.  Helped give me both a fascination and a healthy fear of them.)

Feel like I’m going to throw up at any moment.  Not fun.

D: What happened?

Nausea, headache, exhaustion, stomachache, little appetite…the kind of general stuff I hate having.  I sure as hell hope it’s done by the time I wake up tomorrow, I don’t have time to be sick.

Have not felt well all day.  Crap.

Oh, also, I found out that there’s research out there that shows that almost half of children born vaginally have bleeding in their brains during the first few days of life.  Although you’d likely never know because they have no symptoms of the bleed at all, and so far no long-term problems have been identified because of these bleeds.  So, yeah, bleeding in the brain: chances are it’s happened to you already.
